The Benjamin F. and Lucy E. L. Taylor Papers, 1839-1927 and undated, consist of letters relating to the careers of Benjamin Franklin Taylor and his second wife Lucy E. Leaming Taylor. Includes letters (1840) from Taylor while a teacher at Brooklyn (Mich.) High School to his father, Stephen William Taylor; copies of poems and general correspondence (1861-1884); original manuscript of a novel, Theophilus Trent (1887); and speeches delivered by Lucy E. L. Taylor on a variety of topics relating to history, education, and culture.
This collection will be useful to researchers studying the history of education in the United States in general and in Cleveland, Ohio, in particular during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
