The Royce Family Papers, 1852-1924, consist of descriptive rolls and letters from Abner Royce to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Royce; sketchbook of Henrietta L. Royce; papers of the Cleveland Division of the American Protective League, including a plan of organization, inspector reports, form letters and other correspondence, and handbills; miscellaneous letters, stock certificates, and other family papers.
This collection will be useful to researchers studying the history of Cleveland, Ohio, and the Royce family there in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Those studying the history of the American Protective League (which became the Loyal American League in 1919) in Cleveland will find this collection useful. Those studying the history of the American Civil War and the activities of Company H, 55th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry at Camp Chase, Ohio, and throughout Virginia will find this collection useful.
