Sarah Gaylord Newberry (b. 1823) was the daughter of Erastus Gaylord, a Cleveland, Ohio, druggist, and Lucetta Cleaveland Gaylord. She married Dr. John S. Newberry, a physician and well-known geologist, in 1848. The collection consists of a diary of a voyage to Europe in 1849-1850.
