Carl C. Byers (1911-1969) of Parma, Ohio, was superintendent of the Parma Public Schools from 1942 until his retirement in 1957. He was also a nationally-known philosopher and humorist. In the 1940s and 1950s, he wrote a column for the
The Carl C. Byers Papers, 1937-1966 and undated, consist of biographical information, copies of Byers's writings, transcripts of his radio show, correspondence, and books of testimonials that deal with the dedication of Byers Field (a high school football field in Parma) and Byers's retirement.
This collection is useful for anyone interested in Byers's writing. It also contains some material relating to public schools in Parma, Ohio, in the 1940s and the 1950s.
