The Emmet A. Beebe Family traces its origins to pioneer settlers of Ridgeville Township, Lorain County, Ohio. The progenitor of the family in Ohio was David Beebe, Sr., who arrived in Ohio in the fall of 1809 from Waterbury, Connecticut. His wife and children arrived the following year in October.
Emmet Beebe was the great-grandson of David Beebe, Sr. He was born at North Ridgeville, Ohio, on July 26, 1849, the son of Sidney and Lucetta Beebe. Sydney Beebe was a farmer in the North Ridgeville area and with his brother, Lovel, also operated a stone quarry. Emmet Beebe spent his early life working on his father's farm. In 1885, he married Mary Elizabeth Bailus at Dover, Ohio. About 1887, he and his wife moved to Bristol, Michigan.
In Michigan, Emmet Beebe continued farming and also engaged in the lumbering business. He and his wife spent a large part of their lives in the area around Tustin, Michigan. Here they raised a family of seven children.
Sometime in the late 1920's, Emmet Beebe with his wife returned to Ohio. It was here that he died on March 5, 1933, at North Ridgeville. Mary Beebe moved with her daughters to Westlake, Ohio, where she resided until her death.
