Hardman initiated many advertising campaigns which were adopted by other utilities and were recognized by the advertising industry. Hardman directed Ohio Bell's weekly radio program, the "Ohio Story", contributing historical research and script composition as well as directing the show. Hardman began his own public relations and advertising company, Anson F. Hardman and Associates, in 1951. He also served in various editorial and advertising capacities for the periodical Inside Ohio. The collection consists of scripts and script drafts, administrative papers, correspondence, story ideas and suggestions, research articles, subject lists, broadcast material, clippings, music scores, photographs, and biographical information relating to the activities of Anson Hardman. He was an amateur historian and wrote numerous short stories about his childhood home in Tuscarawas County. His second wife, Beza (Boynton) Kaiser, also wrote stories about the early history of Tuscarawas County. Their children were Ella Kaiser Carruth and John Boynton Kaiser. The collection consists of diaries of Peter Henry Kaiser, writings by various Kaiser family members, correspondence, a class roll book, an account book, genealogical notes on the Kaiser, Boynton and Culver families, newspaper clippings, a scrapbook, land records, and miscellaneous materials. The collection deals primarily with the personal lives of Peter Henry Kaiser and his family.
