The name was changed first to Immanuel Evangelical Church and then to Immanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church. In the 1960s it became Immanuel United Church of Christ. Throughout its first century the church maintained a German-based membership. Located at West 25th Street and Scranton Avenue, the church and its membership expanded rapidly in the decades that followed. The church joined the newly formed Church of Christ in 1963, and changed its name to Trinity United Church of Christ. Construction of a freeway physically divided the neighborhood in the 1960s, and membership numbers never recovered. The church closed in 2008 and its members joined nearby parishes within the United Church of Christ.
