The Federation of the Jewish Charities of Cleveland changed its name to the Jewish Welfare Federation of Cleveland in 1926, and in 1930, added a fundraising arm, the Jewish Welfare Fund of Cleveland. In 1951 the Jewish Welfare Federation merged with the Jewish Community Council to become the Jewish Community Federation. The collection consists of correspondence, trustee and committee minutes and reports, annual reports, surveys, membership lists, newspaper clippings, publications, research papers, and scrapbooks. Bikur Cholim Ladies Sick Aid Society http://catalog.wrhs.org/collections/view?docId=ead/MS3673.xml The Bikur Cholim Ladies Sick Aid Society was founded in 1893 and incorporated in 1900 by Elias Rothschild, Annie Levy, Rebecca Barnett, Esther Bialosky and Rose Blumenthal. The Society collected dues and donations to finance services for the ill in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1944-1945 Bikur Cholim helped finance the construction of the Jewish Convalescent Hospital of Cleveland. It became an auxiliary agency of the hospital while continuing to provide aid to the indigent sick.
