Beckwith was a Cleveland, Ohio, daguerreotypist and photographer, whose studio was located at Pearl Street and Detroit Avenue from 1859 to 1887. His son, Alva D. Beckwith, took over the business at his death. The collection consists of portraits and views of Marvin Beckwith's wife, Margaret McLeod Beckwith, his daughter Harriet Beckwith Roosa, their family, friends and residences.
