He was president of the Northeast District of the American Sokol Organization. Snajdr, Vaclav http://catalog.wrhs.org/collections/view?docId=ead/PG185.xml Vaclav Snajdr (1847-1920) was a Czech writer and journalist who moved to Racine, Wisconsin in 1869 to edit the newspaper Slavie. He later moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he began his own paper, Pokrok, in 1873. When it failed in 1876 Snajdr remained in Cleveland and started a weekly, rationalist newspaper, Dennice Novoveku, in 1877. Later he also published a Sunday paper, Jednota. From 1883 to 1886 Snajdr published Osvobozenych, and from 1891 to 1896 he published Organ Bratsoi of the Cesko-Slovanska Podporyici Spolecnost. Snajdr sold his newspaper and publishing business to Svet Publishing Company in 1910 but remained active in local politics and business. He retired in 1919 and moved to California. The collection consists of group portraits and views of LaSalle Club activities, primarily at Taborville, Ohio, and of the Worker's Gymnastic Union. Koryta and Kundmueller Families http://catalog.wrhs.org/collections/view?docId=ead/PG4936.xml The Koryta-Kundmueller and Related Families is an extended family group which grew out of one Bavarian family from 19th Century Germany, which settled in Cleveland, Ohio. Intermarriage with other Germans from Silesia and eventual marriages with neighbors from Bohemia part of the present day Czech Republic, produced five major lines of this family. Frank Koryta, the son of Czech immigrants Josef and Barbara (Poskocil) Koryta, married Clara Stipek, descendant of Czech immigrant George Stipek. These families had settled in Cleveland, Ohio in the 1870s. Several children of George John and Katherine (Wichert) Kundemueller married into these Czech American families. The Kundemueller family had come to Cleveland, Ohio from Bavaria in 1857 and the Wichert family had come from Silesia in 1873.
