The union merged with the Amalgamated Lithographers of America in 1964 to form the Lithographers and Photoengravers International Union. Also in 1964, Akron Local No. 51 was merged into Cleveland Local No. 24-P. The union merged with the International Brotherhood of Bookbinders in 1972 to form the Graphic Arts International Union. In 1966 the Cleveland local absorbed Youngstown Local No. 63 and in 1976 it took in the Photo-Industrial Local No 24-A. It was chartered in 1860, disbanded in 1865, and reorganized in 1868.
