 Abstract:  Johann Gehrung came to Cleveland, Ohio, from Germany in 1850. His great-grandson, John H. Gehrung, was an engineer at General Motors, an amateur genealogist, and a member of the Western Reserve Historical Society. The collection consists of letters, deeds, genealogical charts and notes, and news clippings, relating to members of the Gehrung family and to their relatives in the Hyde, Collister, and Knoeffler families, and a biography of Judge Florence E. Allen.

2Title:  John Baptist Speidel Family Papers

 Abstract:  John Baptist Speidel was born in Grosselfingen, Germany, in 1834 and immigrated to Hanoverton, Ohio, in 1853. He married Catherine Smelz (1835-1880) in 1857 and had thirteen children. He died in Hanoverton in 1920. Speidel owned a farm in Hanoverton. The collection consists of correspondence, a diary, a family history, a memorial card, newspaper clippings, and a photoprint of a photograph. The collection includes the diary of Joseph Greenwood (b. 1746?), about whom little is known.
