 Abstract:  Anson Hardman was the general advertising manager of Ohio Bell Telephone Company, 1924-1951. Hardman initiated many advertising campaigns which were adopted by other utilities and were recognized by the advertising industry. Hardman directed Ohio Bell's weekly radio program, the "Ohio Story", contributing historical research and script composition as well as directing the show. Hardman began his own public relations and advertising company, Anson F. Hardman and Associates, in 1951. He also served in various editorial and advertising capacities for the periodical Inside Ohio. The collection consists of scripts and script drafts, administrative papers, correspondence, story ideas and suggestions, research articles, subject lists, broadcast material, clippings, music scores, photographs, and biographical information relating to the activities of Anson Hardman. The collection pertains largely to the development of radio programing, from original idea to final casting, broadcast, and publicity. In addition, the sentiments of the post-World War II listening public are also revealed in their responses to various programs.

 Abstract:  Theodore Hall was an information specialist for the Office of Civilian Defense in Cleveland, Ohio, during World War II. He was also a writer for the Cleveland City Planning Commission and a book reviewer for the Washington Post. Hall compiled an unpublished history of the Jack & Heintz Company, Jack & Heintz: the Human Factory, which focused on the company's wartime production. The collection consists of correspondence, reports, newspaper clippings, speech texts, diaries, and publications. Series I consists mainly of radio scripts written by Hall as information specialist for the Cleveland Office of Civilian Defense during World War II. Series II consists of Hall's research material and several drafts of his unpublished manuscript, Jack & Heintz: The Human Factory, on the Jack & Heintz Company (Jahco) during World War II. It includes biographical data on Ralph Heintz and William S. Jack and interviews with Jack & Heintz employees.

 Abstract:  Inez Wallace was a writer and entertainment columnist, working for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, 1920s-1950s, and as a feature writer for many popular magazines. She was a gossip columnist in Hollywood, wrote the scripts for several radio and television programs and authored the story upon which the movie "I walked with a zombie" was based. Inez's husband, Frank Hubbell, owned the Hubbell Advertising Agency in Cleveland, Ohio, and was also a founder of the Direct Mail Advertising Agency. He specialized in motivational messages, advertising mottoes, and promotional materials. The collection consists of correspondence, writings, legal documents, clippings, scrapbooks, and diaries, including typescripts of Wallace's columns, magazine feature stories, radio and TV scripts, short stories, and a novel. The collection pertains to the lives of Inez Wallace and Frank Hubbell, concentrating on their personal relationship and Wallace's writing career. Includes material on Hubbell's career in advertising, the film industry and Hollywood lifestyle, and cold war propaganda related to Wallace's script for the 1956 political commentary, "I'm going to scream again."
