 Abstract:  The Jewish Bakers Union is a subsidiary of the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers' International Union. Local 56 of the Jewish Bakers Union was the local that represented employees of Jewish bakeries in Cleveland, Ohio. Jack Herskovitz, a native Floridian and former Clevelander, was a pioneering figure in the union, and was voted president of Bakers Union Local 56 around 1967. He also served as a business agent for Bakers Union Local 19 and Teamster Union Local 507. Herskovitz died on April 29, 2016. His son, Abraham, is currently (2019) involved in the Bakers Union and serves as treasurer for Local 19. The Jewish Bakers Union collection consists of agreements, correspondence, financial reports, minutes, newsletters, and a news article.
