| | | Creator: | Progressive Slovene Women of America | | | Dates: | 1897-2007 | | | Abstract: | Progressive Slovene Women of America was founded in 1934 to help Slovenian women integrate into American society through education, culture, and humanitarian involvement, and to provide aid to Slovenian immigrant families struggling during the Great Depression. At its peak, the organization was comprised of 18 branches in seven states. The group provided humanitarian aid to Slovenian partisans during World War II, and to the Pediatric Clinic of Ljubljana and various Slovenian children's causes following the war. PSWA formally disbanded in 2004.
