 Abstract:  The Cleveland Women's City Club Foundation was established in 1948 by the Women's City Club of Cleveland, Ohio. It supported projects related to women, education, public affairs and effective government, civic beautification and restoration, health and social service initiatives, and the arts and culture of the community. In 1961 it established the Cleveland Arts Prize to recognize local talent, and in the 1990s it became involved with the Betty Ott Garden for the Blind at the City Greenhouse. The collection consists of account passbooks, agendas, articles of incorporation, brochures, budgets, by-laws, catalogs, certificates, correspondence, financial statements, invitations, leases, legal documents, maps, meeting notices, memoranda, minutes, newspaper and magazine clippings, photographs and negatives, press releases, proclamations, proposals, publications, questionnaires, reports, rosters, and wills.

 Abstract:  The Women's Christian Temperance Union was a Cuyahoga County, Ohio, women's temperance group organized in 1887 following the split in 1885 of the Woman's Christian Temperance League of Cleveland, Ohio. The Cuyahoga County W.C.T.U. supported the national W.C.T.U.'s endorsement of the Prohibition Party, while those that did not formed the Non-Partisan Woman's Christian Temperance Union (Cleveland, Ohio). Despite the decline in support for prohibition as evidenced by the repeal of the 18th Amendment in 1933, the Cuyahoga County W.C.T.U. continued to remain active throughout World War II and the following decade. The group was also involved in various charitable activities. The collection consists of minutes of regular monthly meetings, as well as executive committee meetings, quarterly and annual conventions, and occasional special meetings. Included are lists of nominated committee directors, committee reports, local union reports, treasurer's reports, election material, reports on fundraising projects, and newsletters (1949-1950). The collection pertains to the attitude and activities of the WCTU during World War II and the following decade, and deals with issues such as scientific temperance education in Cleveland's public schools, prohibiting liquor advertisements in local newspapers, limiting the number of liquor permits issue, lobbying against city owned and operated liquor outlets, and the passage of state prohibition laws.

 Abstract:  Women's American ORT, Cleveland Region, was established in 1957 as a regional group of the Women's American Organization for Rehabilitation Through Training (ORT), a vocational training program for Jewish people which is a member of the World ORT Union, a worldwide organization whose purpose is to help people by teaching them modern trades and skills. The World ORT runs a global network of vocational schools for this purpose. The Cleveland Region ORT has 28 chapters divided into 5 administrative sections. It is led by a Region Board which is structured into four departments: Special Projects (fund raising), Membership, Education, and Community. It belongs to District VIII, which comprises Ohio, Michigan, and parts of New York and Pennsylvania. The collection consists of correspondence (1972-1975), papers on the history of the ORT from 1881 to 1939, minutes of the Region Board and the Executive Committee (1972-1974), reports of the Cleveland Region made at various conferences and seminars (1965-1975), newsletters, programs, fund raising manuals and cards, certificates, newspaper clippings, miscellaneous printed materials, and two scrapbooks, dated 1972 and 1973, containing newspaper clippings and circulars.

 Abstract:  AMIT Women (Mizrachi Women's Organization of America, Hebrew acronym for Association of Volunteers for Israel and Torah) was founded at the Mizrachi Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1925 as Mizrachi Women of America (MWoA) and later named AMIT Women in 1983. AMIT Women is an organization of orthodox Jewish Zionist women that provides support for poor children in Israel. Throughout the history of the organization AMIT built up a network of vocational schools, homes for children, surrogate family residences and other projects for youth in Israel. In Cleveland, AMIT has been an active part of the Jewish community, organizing numerous fundraising dinners, luncheons, and other events along the Jewish holidays to support both the local Jewish community and to raise money for their numerous projects in Israel. The collection consists of reports, brochures, catalogues, correspondence, instruction booklets, invoices, manuals, newspaper clippings, photographs, posters, proclamations, programs, publications, recognition certificates, resource manuals, and a scrapbook.
