 Abstract:  Zerah Coston Monks was a teacher from Curllsville, Clarion County, Pennsylvania. After serving with a Union regiment during the American Civil War, he married Hannah Rohrer, of Stewart's Run, Venango County, Pennsylvania. His cousin, Andrew J. Monks, was Ordnance Sergeant of the 105th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment, in 1863. The collection consists of correspondence, a Civil War diary, biographical sketches, and poetry, concerning the Monks, Rohrer, and Conpropst families.
