 Abstract:  Walker and Weeks was the foremost architectural firm in Cleveland, Ohio, in the 1920s. The firm specialized in bank buildings, religious structures in classical revival styles, and major commercial and public buildings. The collection consists of photographs and negatives of the buildings, arches, memorials, and proposed plans designed by the Cleveland, Ohio architectural firm of Walker and Weeks. Buildings and structures depicted include Cuyahoga County Hospital; Allen Memorial Library; the American Legion statue; the Burton Memorial; Broadway Savings and Trust Co.; Cleveland Board of Education; Case Observatory; Citizens Savings and Trust Co.; Cleveland Discount Co.; Cleveland Heights High School; Cleveland Post Office; several branches of the Cleveland Public Library; the Cleveland Mall plan; Collinwood Neighborhood Center; Columbus Memorial Lighthouse competition; Commerce National Bank of Toledo, Ohio; proposed plans of Fairmount Presbyterian Church; First Church of Christ Scientist; Foster Mausoleum; Garfield Bank; Gates Mills Town Hall; Cleveland Museum of Art; Guaranty Savings and Loan Co.; Guardian Bank Building; Hanna family headstones; Harrison County, W. Va.  Abstract:  Martin Linsey was a Cleveland, Ohio, watercolorist, photographer, and art teacher. Linsey, a graduate of the Cleveland School of Art, was a watercolorist who developed a national reputation for his work by the early 1940s. He also excelled as a photographer, exhibiting prize-winning works at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Linsey's livelihood included painting, teaching art and photography, and producing architectural drawings and personal portraits. The collection consists of approximately 1000 negatives of various historic structures in Cleveland and the Western Reserve, including views of bridges, buildings, churches and synagogues, industry, monuments, and residences. Many of these views were made for the Historic American Buildings Survey.

The collection includes photographs of the Medusa Portland Cement Co. building in Cleveland Heights, Ohio; the A. Dean Perry summer home in Gates Mills, Ohio; the Charles S. Klaus house of Kirtland, Ohio; the Stinchcomb Memorial, Rocky River Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks; and the Ape and Primate Building at the Cleveland Zoo.

The collection consists of views of three separate sites; East 9th Street and Chester Avenue, Chester Avenue and East 30th Street, and East 67th Street and Carnegie Avenue, and include images of building demolition and construction. The images at East 30th Street and Chester Avenue contain background views of mansions on Euclid Avenue.

The bulk of the collection focuses on downtown Cleveland and the Flats area. Of particular interest are images of two buildings no longer standing; the Engineer's Building and the Hippodrome Theater.

 Abstract:  The Union Commerce Building, subsequently known as the Huntington Building, is located at the corner of Euclid Avenue and East Ninth Street in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. It has housed a series of banks, retail stores, and offices since it was built in the 1920s. The collection consists of a building appraisal completed by Ostendorf-Morris Company at the request of the noteholders committee of Union Properties, Inc.

Included are photographs of the Cleveland Trust Company, Elliott Shoe Company, Pathe Film Company, Dinner Bell Meat Company, Fisher Food Inc., Ohio Bell Telephone Company, Geauga Community Hospital, Slovak Home for the Aged, Immaculate Heart of Mary School, Ursuline College Campus Center, and other representative examples of the company's work.

 Abstract:  Levi T. Scofield was an architect in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to designing several asylums for the insane in Ohio, the North Carolina State Penitentiary, the reformatory at Mansfield, Ohio, the Schofield Building in downtown Cleveland, private residences, and public schools; he was the architect and chief proponent of the Cuyahoga County (Ohio) Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument, located on Public Square in Cleveland, Ohio. The collection consists of of photographs, daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, tintypes, stereoviews, sketches, cabinet card photographs, glass mound prints, and albums, of members of the Scofield family of Cleveland, Ohio. It includes many architectural and building views, the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, and some novelty photographs.

 Abstract:  Members of the Ford family were prominent lawyers, philanthropists, and businessmen of Cleveland, Ohio, during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The collection consists of individual and group portraits of Ford and allied families, including the Brooks, Gill, Reynolds, and Shyrock families. Individuals pictured include Oliver Kingsley Brooks, Horatio Clark Ford, David K. Ford, Elizabeth Kingsley Brooks Ford, and other family members and associates. Also included are photographs of Frederick Goff, Charles Lindbergh, and Richard Nixon. Views contained in the collection include buildings, churches, and residences associated with the family, such as the Cuyahoga and Williamson Buildings and the New Amsterdam Hotel in Cleveland, and Schauffler Hall at Defiance College. Other views include events, monuments, ships, statuary, and trips. Of special interest is a photograph taken ca. 1900 at the completion of the Cleveland and Eastern Traction Company's line through to Chardon, Ohio.
