Cathcart, Wallace Hugh Wallace Hugh Cathcart (1865-1942) was a prominent Cleveland, Ohio, bibliophile associated with the Western Reserve Historical Society as president (1907-1913) and director (1913-1942), acquiring many of that organization's finest manuscript collections. Cathcart was also vice-president and general manager of Burrows Bros., a prosperous Cleveland book dealer, and was one of the founders, and later vice-president, of the American Booksellers & Publishers Association. Cathcart was a member of the executive committee of the Cuyahoga County Centennial Celebration, chaired by William H. Hunt and held in 1910. The week-long centennial included various dedications, street pageants, a water carnival and an aeroplane meet. During the celebration, the $3 million Cuyahoga County Courthouse and a new post office were dedicated. The Historical Commission of Ohio was created in 1918 to collect and preserve materials pertaining to Ohio's role in World War I. The collection consists of correspondence, official programs and ...
