Abstract: The First New Jerusalem Society was a church founded in 1838, in Chillicothe (Ross County), Ohio, whose members were followers of the doctrines of Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772), Swedish scientist, mystic and religious philosopher. The collection consists of minutes, lists of members, copies of agreements, and correspondence. Pre-1857 records recorded from memory by Amasa D. Sproat, secretary of the society, after the originals were destroyed by fire. The membership records contained in this collection have been indexed.
