Abstract: | The 171st Ohio Infantry Regiment was a company commanded by Captain Peter Hitchcock. The regiment, which consisted of several Ohio National Guard units, was organized at Sandusky, Ohio, in May 1864, to serve 100 days. It served guard duty at Johnson's Island and fought Confederate General John H. Morgan's forces in Kentucky during the American Civil War in June, 1864. The collection consists of a roster book, and clothing and ordnance book. |
