Abstract: |
Elizur Wright, Jr. (1804-1885) was an abolitionist, and professor of mathematics and natural philosophy at Western Reserve
College (Hudson, Ohio). Wright took part in the anti-slavery movement before the Civil War. His father came from Canaan,
Connecticut, to Tallmadge, Ohio, in 1810, where he founded the Tallmadge Academy. The collection consists of letters to
Wright, chiefly from his father, Elizur Wright, of Tallmadge, Ohio, together with some from his mother, Rhoda (Hanmer), and
from his brother and sister, James and Clarissa, relating to life in Tallmadge, Western Reserve College, and the anti-slavery
movement.
