The collection consists primarily of letters from McMeekin to his mother, Hannah McMeekin, of Washington, Fayette County, Ohio, while he was stationed at Camp Marietta, Ohio, and in various camps in Tennessee, Louisiana, and Mississippi, during the Civil War.
