Abstract: George Hurlbut (b. 1838 or 1839) was a 2nd Lieutenant in the 14th Independent Battery, Ohio Volunteer Light Artillery, during the American Civil War. The collection consists of a diary kept during Hurlbut's first year with the Ohio Volunteer Light Artillery, during which he saw action in several engagements in Mississippi.
