Abstract: The Commercial Bank of Lake Erie was Cleveland, Ohio's first bank. It was organized in 1816, reorganized in 1832, and dissolved in 1845. The company was incorporated by Seth Doan, Alfred Kelley, David Long, Erastus Miles, John H. Strong, Philo Taylor, George Wallace, and Samuel Williamson. Alfred Kelley was the president of the company, and Leonard Case served as cashier. The collection consists of discount ledgers, daybooks and a letter book.
