Abstract: George Washington Bowen (1838-1908) was a student at the Cleveland Institute of Homeopathy in Cleveland, Ohio. He later served in the 5th United States Colored Infantry Regiment during the American Civil War (1864) and went on to practice medicine in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The collection consists of a notebook kept by Bowen while he attended medical school.
