Hiram P. Oviatt (1821-1872) was a soldier in Battery K of the 1st Ohio Light Artillery Regiment. The collection consists
of correspondence, diaries, land deeds, and military papers, relating to Oviatt and his wife, Lucy Ann Bullard Oviatt. Includes
diary kept by Oviatt while he was prospecting for gold in California in 1850; two letters (1827-1828) containing references
to political conditions in Canada; and papers concerning members of the Bullard, Hamilton, and Oviatt families of Euclid,
Ohio. Other correspondents include Hannah Bullard and Tyler Parker.
