Abstract: John Hauser (1826-1900) was a German immigrant to Sandusky, Ohio, who worked with the Sandusky, Mansfield & Newark Railroad as a master painter. He also served with the 145th Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the American Civil War. The collection consists of correspondence (primarily in German script), passports, a certificate of thanks for army service (with printed signatures of Abraham Lincoln and Edwin Stanton), and miscellaneous papers.
