Leila Dromgold Emig (1872-?) was an early twentieth-century genealogist active in several patriotic societies, including the Society of the Children of the American Revolution which she founded in 1909. Born in Perry County, Pennsylvania, Emig began work in the Women's Christian Temperance Union of Washington, D. C., after her marriage to attorney Clayton Ely Emig in 1894. Her philanthropic endeavors included church and rescue mission work. She was on record in the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as a descendant of numerous patriots and soldiers and served as an officer of that organization's Constitution Chapter. As a genealogist, she compiled histories of the Dromgold and Hench families and collected records for the Rice, Motzer, Ickes, Day, Hall, Saville, Weibley, and related families.
The Leila Dromgold Emig Family Papers, 1911-1957, consist of correspondence, newspaper clippings, military intelligence reports, and memorabilia.
These records pertain primarily to Leila Dromgold Emig's work with the Society of the Children of the American Revolution and Clayton Ely Emig's military involvement in 1918.
