Abstract: |
Reverend Edward Worthington was pastor of Grace Episcopal Church in Cleveland, Ohio, during the latter part of the nineteenth
century. His wife, Eleanor Lobdell Worthington, was the daughter of Dr. Francis Lobdell, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church
and once archdeacon of the Episcopal Diocese of Western New York. The collection consists of various personal and professional
letters of the Worthington family, and other individuals, as well as genealogical charts of the Lobdell family, newspaper
clippings, and clipped autographs. The collection is largely personal in nature, being primarily correspondence between family
members. A large portion is the correspondence of Eleanor Worthington and deals mainly with family and domestic issues. The
Edward Worthington correspondence is also primarily of a personal nature, with some official church and business letters.
Several of the letters relate to the courtship of Edward and Eleanor.
