Abstract: | Harold T. Clark (1882-1965) was a Cleveland, Ohio, lawyer and philanthropist. The colllection consists of newspaper clippings, correspondence, legal documents, and programs pertaining to Clark's philanthropic interest in tennis, particularly the East End Tennis Club Company, the Davis Cup, and Robert Malaga, a leading Cleveland promoter and ehthusiast of tennis who was a friend of Clark's. |

Harold Terry Clark (1882-1965) was a prominent attorney and philanthropist in Cleveland, Ohio, through the first half of the twentieth century. After graduating from Yale and Harvard universities, he was a partner in the law firm of Squire, Sanders, and Dempsey from 1913-1938. At the end of World War I, he was attached to the American Committee to Negotiate Peace at Paris. In 1938, he opened his own law office. Throughout much of his career, he was active in civic and cultural affairs in Cleveland, including committee work in the educational system, the park system, the Educational Museum of the Cleveland Schools, the Natural History Museum, and the Cleveland Museum of Art. He received many honorary degrees and civic awards from various institutions, including the Migel Medal from the American Foundation for the Blind for work on the William Terry Touch Alphabet. He married Mary Ermina Sanders in 1911, and had six children: David Sanders, Mary Ermina, John Terry, William Sanders, Annie Otis, and Margaret Sanders. In 1940, he married Marie Odenkirk. He died in 1965.
