Biography of Beatrice Yarus Abrams

Beatrice Yarus Abrams was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1910 and lived in Cleveland for all of her ninety-five years. Her family, Yarus, immigrated to the United States from the Austro-Hungarian empire prior to the 1890s. She graduated from Glenville High School in 1927 and married Harry Abrams in 1932 in the first wedding held at the newly constructed B'nai Jeshurun Synagogue.

She was active in Hadassah, Temple Tifereth Israel and served as president of Memorial School PTA. With her husband, Harry, she founded the Caxton Printers Supply Company in 1945 and for 55 years served as the treasurer and office manager. Their son, Ronald, became president of the company upon the death of his father, Harry, in 1973.

Beatrice was an active board member of the Cleveland Club of Litho and Printing House Craftsmen. When the international convention of this organization was held in Cleveland, in 1972, she planned portions of the program.
