The Jordan C. Band Papers, 1921-2003 and undated, consist of correspondence, awards, speech texts, writings, minutes, and scrapbooks.
This collection is of value to researchers studying the Band family, Jewish philanthropy, and Jewish social activism, particularly in the Cleveland, Ohio, area. Of particular note are the texts of Band's speeches on various social issues and his extensive writings, both published and unpublished, collected in the scrapbooks. Correspondence related to Band's involvement in the Soviet Jewish movement includes his remarks at a 1965 rally at Cleveland Heights High School. Other interesting items include correspondence from several Israeli Prime Ministers, United States Senators, ambassadors, and politicians.
