Benedict Crowell (1869-1952) was a Cleveland, Ohio engineer, builder and bank president who became Assistant Secretary of
War and Director of Munitions during World War I. The collection consists of photographs depicting the life and career of
General Benedict Crowell, including his service during World Wars I and II, and a series of photographs of Billy Mitchell's
aerial bombing demonstration in July 1921. Included is an opalotype of George A. Benedict, publisher of the Cleveland Herald
and grandfather of Benedict Crowell.
