Abstract: | Hattie Hyman Dettelbach (1878-1957) was a Cleveland, Ohio, resident active as a volunteer in many Jewish community organizations, including Mt. Sinai Hospital, the Jewish Children's Bureau, Euclid Avenue Temple Sisterhood, and the Federation of Jewish Women's Organizations. She organized sabbath services for patients at Sunny Acres Sanitarium for tuberculosis patients, coordinating this program from the 1920s into the 1950s. The collection consists of a photograph album and loose photographs of members of the Dettelbach family and other individuals, a confirmation class group portrait from the Euclid Avenue Temple (Anshe Chesed Congregation, Cleveland, Ohio), Doan School, Zeta Beta Tau fraternity, and Sigma Kappa Fraternity. |

The Hattie Hyman Dettelbach Photographs, ca. 1880s-1930s, consist of a photograph album and loose photographs of members of the Dettelbach family and other individuals, a confirmation class group portrait from the Euclid Avenue Temple (Anshe Chesed Congregation, Cleveland, Ohio), Doan School, Zeta Beta Tau fraternity, and Sigma Kappa Fraternity. The collection includes 21 loose black and white photographs that measure 20 x 12 inches and smaller. It also includes an album that measures 5 x 8 inches that contains 31 black and white photographs.
This collection will be useful to researchers studying the history of women and the Jewish community in Cleveland, Ohio.
