Abstract: | Myra Caley Gibbs (1871-1964) was a Warrensville Township, Ohio, native and descendant of Daniel and Moses Warren. She married Samuel L. Gibbs, who helped the Van Sweringen brothers develop Shaker Heights. She also maintained an interest in the North Union Shaker community. The collection consists of individual portraits of Gibbs, Mills, Young, Demsey,and Warren family members. Also includes views of Daniel Warren's home on Kinsmen Road and a group portrait of the Moreland Garden Club. |

Myra Caley Gibbs (1871-1964) was a native of Warrensville Township, Ohio, tracing her families roots to Daniel Warren, for whom the area was named, and Moses Warren who accompanied Moses Cleaveland on the surveying expedition into the Western Reserve in 1796. She spent her childhood on a farm bordering the North Union Shaker community and befriended its members. In 1895 she married Samuel L. Gibbs, an associate of the Van Sweringen brothers who developed Shaker Heights. She was active in the Shaker Historical Society and the Manx Society until her death in 1964.
The Myra Caley Gibbs Photographs, ca. 1870-1962, consist of individual portraits of Gibbs, Mills, Young, Demsey,and Warren family members. Also includes views of Daniel Warren's home on Kinsmen Road and a group portrait of the Moreland Garden Club. The collection includes 33 black and white and color photographs that measure 5 x 7 inches and smaller.
