Abstract: |
The Moses Warren family were early settlers of Warrensville, Ohio. Warren (1760-1851), a descendant of John Warren of Watertown,
Mass., was a surveyor with the Moses Cleaveland expedition to the Connecticut Western Reserve in 1796 and an early settler
in Warrensville Township, Ohio. He was one of the founders of the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1837 and served as a trustee,
treasurer, and overseer of the poor for the township. He died in Warrensville in 1851, survived by 3 of his children, including
Daniel Warren (1786-1862), Anna Wilcox Prentiss, and Moses Warren, Jr. Daniel Warren's wife, Margaret (Prentiss), purportedly
gave the township her husband's name. The collection consists of views of Warren family headstones, a postcard of the Rebecca
Nurse home, and photographs of baptism, marriage, and death records pertaining to the Warren family, and portraits of Art
and Joanna Lersch.
