Abstract: | Frederick A. Van Fleet (1874-1952) was a business writer and editor for numerous magazines and newspapers in Michigan and Ohio from 1890 until 1928. In 1928 he became public relations counsel for the Peerless Motor Car Company of Cleveland. Van Fleet was also active in the Society of Mayflower Descendants. The collection consists of individual and group portraits of Van Fleet family members, and photographs of subjects such as yachts, yacht racing, and other ships and shipping scenes. |

Frederick A. Van Fleet (1874-1952) was a writer and editor for numerous magazines and newspapers in Michigan and Ohio from 1890 until 1928 when he settled into a position on the public relations counsel of the Peerless Motor Car Company in Cleveland, Ohio, where he continued to reside until his death. He was active in the Society of Mayflower Descendants, serving as lieutenant governor of the Cleveland Colony from 1933 until 1939 and then serving from 1942 to 1948 as both governor of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Ohio and governor general of the nationally based General Society of Mayflower Descendants.
The Frederick A. Van Fleet Photographs, ca. 1870s-1940s, consist of individual and group portraits of Van Fleet family members, and photographs of subjects such as yachts, yacht racing, and other ships and shipping scenes. Collection includes 140 black and white and color photographs that measure 14 x 10 inches and smaller.
