Abstract: | John Branchflower (1844-ca. 1914) was a Cleveland, Ohio, native who lived in Rockport (Rocky River), Ohio for a time and may have attended Baldwin University in Berea, Ohio. He moved to Jackson, Michigan, and appears to have done carpentry and house-building work there. He married Emma Taylor in 1875 and had three children, Emma Grace Branchflower Goodall, Pearl Branchflower Dickerson, and John Roy Branchflower. The collection consists of portraits of unidentified members of the Branchflower family, and views of Frankfort, Michigan. |

John Branchflower, Jr. (1844-1914?) was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to John and Lucy Branchflower. For a time, the family lived in Rockport, Ohio, but when John, Sr. died in 1847, John, Jr. spent time with his uncle and aunt, Simeon and Harriet Dunbar, in Brighton, Ohio. there is evidence that he may have attended Baldwin University in Berea, Ohio, for a time. He later moved to Jackson, Michigan, and married Emma Tyler in 1875. He had three children: Emma Grace Branchflower Goodall, Pearl Branchflower Dickerson, and John Roy Branchflower. It appears that he performed carpentry and house-building work in Jackson. He died between 1909 and 1919.
The John Branchflower Family Photographs, ca. 1890s, consist of portraits of unidentified members of the Branchflower family, and views of Frankfort, Michigan. The collection includes approximately 50 black and white photographs of varying sizes. It also includes a photograph album.
