 Abstract:  The Fifth Evangelical and Reformed Church was founded in 1876 in Cleveland, Ohio, as the Funften of Fifth Evangelical and Reformed Church. From its organization until it disbanded in 1971 the church was located on the corner of Hague Avenue and West 67th Street. The collection consists of four bound volumes of records. Volumes I and II contain the church's registers and constitution, recorded in German. Volume 3 contains the minutes of the governing board of the church's Sunday School, also in German. Volume 4 contains a later register, recorded in English.

 Abstract:  East Madison Avenue Church was a Congregational church founded in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1874 as a mission church of Euclid Avenue Congregational Church. The collection consists of four bound volumes and a baptismal certificate book. The first vol. contains lists of members and baptisms, and minutes of annual congregational meetings. The second vol. contains a constitution, articles of incorporation, and minutes of the Madison Avenue Congregational Church Society, the Board of Trustees, and the Building Committee. The third vol. contains a roll of new members. The fourth vol. contains revisions to the constitution, baptisms, and minutes of annual meetings. The baptismal certificate book contains record stubs of certificates issued.

 Abstract:  During the 1850s Congregational churches in Ohio formed various geographical associations. One of these was the Medina Association, which was organized in 1853. The original members included Litchfield Church, Chatham Church, Free Church-Medina, Free Church-York, and Lodi Church. The collection consists of annual reports, minutes, constitution, membership fees, directories of ministers and officers, card file of ministers, and miscellaneous ordination files of three ministers; Thomas Williams, Erwin A. Britton, and Lawrence P. Jewell.

 Abstract:  St. Paul's United Church of Christ was established in 1856 in Cleveland, Ohio, as the Second German Evangelical Church. In 1858 it changed to St. Paul's Evangelical Church. The church was located at the intersection of Scovill Avenue and Greenwood Street. With the merger of the German Evangelical and German Reformed denominations the church became St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church. Since the 1961 merger with the Congregational Christian Church the denomination has been known as St. Paul's United Church of Christ. The collection consists of three bound volumes containing the registers of baptisms, marriages and deaths in the church, a bound volume of memorials of members, and additional, unbound memorials.

 Abstract:  Glenville Congregational Church was organized in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1901 by Reverend William Colbert Detling and originally called the People's Church of Glenville. The name was changed to Glenville Congregational Church in 1910. It was disbanded in January, 1962. The collection consists of trustees' minutes, committee reports, material on the resignation of Rev. Albert B. Eby, church roll, church register, church transfer records, printed directories, and miscellaneous material, including a typed history and articles of incorporation.

The church relocated in Cleveland in 1915 and became Highland United Church of Christ in 1957. It disbanded in 1971.  Abstract:  The Congregational Union of Cleveland Churches was organized in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1853, as the Cleveland Congregational Conference, to oversee the organization of new churches and the mergers of existing churches, and to provide financial assistance. In 1912 it merged with the City Missionary Society to form the Congregational Union of Cleveland. In 1963 the Union was merged into the Western Reserve Association of the United Church of Christ. The collection consists of governing board records, committee records, records of Congregational churches, and histories. Includes minutes, programs, correspondence, newspaper clippings, a scrapbook, and four unpublished works by Reverend Karl O. Thompson.

 Abstract:  Wilbur F. Hinman was a soldier in Company E of the 65th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the American Civil War. He was wounded at the battle of Chickamauga in 1863 yet remained in the service until his company mustered out in November 1865. The collection consists of letters from Hinman to his family in Berea, Ohio, while he was in the service. Topics include the battle of Stone's River at Murfreesboro in 1863 and the Atlanta campaign of 1864. Also included are a letter from David Hinman to his wife, and a letter to Wilbur Hinman from Carrie Starr.
