It was first called the Consumer Education and Protective Association, but changed its name to the Consumer Action Movement after its 1975 merger with Citizen Action. In 1976 it reorganized itself into the Cleveland Consumer Action, Inc. and set up the Cleveland Consumer Action Foundation. The collection consists of articles of incorporation, by-laws, codes of regulations, board of trustee minutes, correspondence, financial records, complaint records, and papers relating to the organization's publications. Once Cleveland's largest independent brewery, it had branch agencies in Ohio, western Pennsylvania, and Indiana, and gained a reputation for its Premium Lager and Budweiser beers, before that became a brand name. Production in 1890 was over 90,000 barrels, and rose to 355,000 barrels by 1917. When the company closed in 1959, (Ohio instituted a $.36-a-case tax) it was the oldest brewery in Cleveland and one of the longest surviving family-operated breweries in America. The collection consists of incorporation papers, patent and trademark papers, clippings, a company history prepared by Bruce R. Was succesively hunter and trapper, Cleveland's first full-time school teacher, mail carrier from Cleveland to Pittsburgh, and owner of general store. Married Lucy Mygatt of Canfield, Ohio. Became involved in the Western Reserve real estate market prior to his death in 1852. Adams' second son, Comfort Avery Adams, born in 1816 in Warren, Ohio, succeeded Asael as proprietor of the general store until after 1852. He then was successively a postmaster, tax collector, newspaper editor, and then started a clothing manufacturing business in Cleveland. He died in 1901, and is buried in Lakeview Cemetary. Ollendorff (1907-1979) of Cleveland, Ohio, as an exchange for youth leaders, teachers, and social workers. It hoped to deepen understanding between countries by giving participants intimate knowledge of another country and to improve social work through a professional exchange of knowledge. Approximately 500 participants from over 100 countries live with host families for six weeks each year. Cleveland, Chicago, Philadelphia and Detroit are among the sites of host families in the United States.
