	Abstract:	David Rankin Perkins (1868-1937) was an African American teacher and businessman in Wilmot, Ashley County, Arkansas. A graduate of Alcorn Agricultural and Mechanical College (Alcorn State University) in Mississippi, Perkins was the co-owner of Douglass and Perkins Dry Goods and Groceries with H. D. Douglass. His wife, Mattie Martin Perkins (1872-1964) was also a graduate of Alcorn and a teacher. Her father, John Adams Martin, was a college professor and the president of Alcorn State University in Mississippi from 1911-1915. The collection consists correspondence exchanged by David Perkins and Mattie Martin while they were courting in the 1890s and a 1919 yearbook for the Tuskgegee Institute.

Her grandmother was Henrietta Braggs who worked as a maid and cook for the Wentworth Marshall family of Shaker Heights, Ohio. The collection consists of two scrapbooks of newspaper clippings and programs that document African American history in Cleveland, Ohio, and the United States.

	Abstract:	The Northern Ohio Lumber and Timber Company was founded in 1922 and located at 1895 Carter Road in The Flats neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio. The company was incorporated by Charles Nicola, E. E. Teare, A. L. Stone, C. H. Carleton, and D. W. Mills. The company manufactured wood products and bought and sold wholesale and retail lumber, and traces its roots back to The company moved to West Third Street on the west side of The Flats in 2003. The collection consists of two bound minute books that include minutes of directors' meetings, minutes of stockholders' meetings, and articles of incorporation.

	Abstract:	Orange Township was located in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Founded in 1820 to provide rural government services, it was annexed by the municipalities of Beachwood, Hungting Valley, Moreland Hills, Orange, Pepper Pike, and Woodmere as the county urbanized in the twentieth century. It also included part of Chagrin Falls Township. Orange Township was named for Orange, Connecticut, the hometown of several early settlers. The collection consists of two justice of the peace docket books.

	Abstract:	Laura Barrett lived at 1314 West 115th Street in Cleveland, Ohio, during the Great Depression and World War II. She worked as a cook and house mother for the Phi Delta Theta fraternity house at Western Reserve University during the school year in the early 1930s and then worked as a cook and housekeeper at Rose-Mary Center in Euclid, Ohio, later in the 1930s and 1940s. The collection consists of thirteen diaries and one financial ledger book.

	Abstract:	Joseph William Briggs (1813 or 1814-1872) was a United States Post Office employee who served as special agent to the Cleveland, Ohio, branch and traveled throughout the United States to direct the installation of city free delivery service. His daughter Mary Harmony Briggs (1837-1913) was married to Edwin Beard Mastick, Jr. (1844-1918). The collection consists of a patent application, one photograph, and one script.

2850	Title:	Cleveland Music School Settlement Records, Series II

	Abstract:	The Cleveland Music School Settlement was founded in 1912 to provide music lessons to children of limited means in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1920 the Settlement became a member of the Welfare Federation of Cleveland. In 1988 it included an Extension Program with several branches. Programs included Music Therapy, Special Education, a nursery, an advisory committee to aid other institutions, and a consortium with area universities. In 2008 the name was changed to The Music Settlement. In 2014 the Music Settlement opened a satellite location at the former Bop Stop jazz club in the Ohio City neighborhood on Cleveland's west side. The collection consists of board meeting minutes.

	Abstract:	The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, Ohio, was founded in 1905 to provide pro bono legal assistance to Clevelanders who would not otherwise be able to afford it. In its first year, the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland served nearly 500 people; in 2009, it handled more than 11,000 cases, with a staff of 55 attorneys and a network of 1,400 volunteer lawyers. Major concerns for the Legal Aid Society during the first decade of the twenty-first century included the exploitation of low-income utility customers, and victims of predatory mortgage lending and fraudulent proprietary schools. It remains the fifth oldest legal aid society in the United States. The collection consists of annual reports, programs, and one DVD.

	Abstract:	Anastasia Pantsios is a Cleveland, Ohio, based writer and photographer whose work has appeared in local and national publications including the Cleveland Scene, the Free Times, Village Voice, Spin, Creem, Hit Parader, Rolling Stone, and the New York Times. She has photographed hundreds of major national and local acts since the 1970s, and is a former staff photographer for the Cleveland Opera. In 2011, her 44-piece solo show, "Girls on Film: 40 Years of Women in Rock," premiered at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum before touring to Pennsylvania and Chicago. The collection consists of newspaper clippings, correspondence, ephemera, event programs, photographs, and promotional materials.

	Abstract:	The Cleveland Music Group was a nonprofit, member-supported organization whose mission was to promote and assist Cleveland, Ohio, musicians both locally and nationally. During the 1990s the group conducted periodic educational forums on topics related to the music business as well as a monthly songwriters workshop at Peabody's Down Under in the Flats. The 150-member group consisted of music industry insiders, sound engineers, journalists and photographers, agents and club owners, radio personalities and musicians. The collection consists of board minutes, newspaper clippings, correspondence, financial documents, lists, newsletters, ephemera (including event flyers and tickets), and press releases.

	Abstract:	The Cleveland Pioneer Players, later the Cleveland Irish Players, are an Irish American theatre ensemble that formed in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1960, performing their first play ("Professor Tim" by George Shiels) in 1961. Since then, the group has performed the works of major Irish playwrights including Sean O'Casey ("Juno and the Paycock" and "The Plough and the Stars"), Brian Friel ("Philadelphia Here I Come!" and "Dancing at Lughnasa"), and Hugh Leonard ("Da"), as well as lesser known Irish and Irish-American authors. The group has performed in Pittsburgh, Detroit, Dayton and Marietta, Ohio, and traveled to Ireland in 1976, 1978, and 1980. The collection consists of playbills and newsletters.

	Abstract:	Hough Bakeries Inc. was established by Lionel Pile as Hough Home Bakery in 1903 in Cleveland, Ohio. It was located at 8708 Hough Avenue. The company grew to become the largest multiple unit bakery in Ohio, and one of ten largest nationwide. Expansion into the suburbs began in the 1920s. In 1941, the former Star Bakery Company plant was purchased, and Hough operations and headquarters were moved there. The company incorporated in 1945, and the name was changed to Hough Bakeries, Inc. in 1952. Hough Foods, producer and distributor of frozen foods, became a subsidiary to the parent company in 1955. Hough's catering services, begun in the 1930s, became a subsidiary in 1956, when the company underwent corporate reorganization. 48 retail outlets operated into the early 1980s. In 1990, the Pile family sold the business to Amerifoods. In 1992, the company closed all remaining stores, and filed for Chapter Seven bankruptcy. The catering division was sold to the International Exposition Center, Brook Park, Ohio. The company name and recipes were purchased by Kraft General Foods. The collection consists of 17 black and white and color photographs mainly depicting special events at the bakery including Raisin Week, Pennsylvania Dutch Week, and Florida Week.

	Abstract:	The International Union of United Brewery, Flour, Cereal, Soft Drink and Distillery Workers was founded in 1886 as the National Union of United Brewery Workmen. The union affiliated with the American Federation of Labor in 1887 and merged with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters in 1973. The union was open to all employees regardless of craft, making it the first industrial union in the United States. The union had locals representing brewery and soft drink employees in Cleveland, New Philadelphia, Akron, Norwalk, and Sandusky, Ohio. The collection consists of membership dues ledgers, membership journals, permit holder journals, and statistical ledgers.
