The collection consists of letters, deeds, genealogical charts and notes, and news clippings, relating to members of the Gehrung family and to their relatives in the Hyde, Collister, and Knoeffler families, and a biography of Judge Florence E. He married Catherine Smelz (1835-1880) in 1857 and had thirteen children. He died in Hanoverton in 1920. Speidel owned a farm in Hanoverton. The collection consists of correspondence, a diary, a family history, a memorial card, newspaper clippings, and a photoprint of a photograph.
