 Dates:  1907-1993 
 Abstract:  Cynthia Moultrie Holloway (1912-1994) taught in the Cleveland Public Schools for over thirty years. She was a teacher at Rutherford B. Hayes, Kinsman, and Anton Grdina schools. She traveled throughout the world as a delegate to conferences of the World Confederation of the Teaching Profession, including Australia, England, Nigeria, Indonesia, and Brazil. She held leadership positions in thirty Ohio Education assemblies and served for eight years on the Ohio Education Association's Human Relations Committee. Her husband Edward L. Holloway (1910-1985) was a industrial arts teacher at several Cleveland Public Schools who served in leadership capacities in the North Eastern Ohio Teachers Association and the Ohio Education Association. The Holloways were among the first African American teachers to serve in leadership positions within the Ohio Education Association. The collection consists of scrapbooks that contain biographies, certificates, correspondence, memoranda, newsletters, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, photographs, and ephemera.

2882Title:  George V. Voinovich Papers

 Abstract:  George Victor Voinovich was born in 1936 and grew up on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio. He attended Ohio University for his undergraduate studies and received his law degree from Ohio State University in 1961. Following his marriage to Janet Allan in 1962, he established a law practice in his Collinwood neighborhood. He was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 1966, became Cuyahoga County Auditor in 1971, and was elected a Cuyahoga County commissioner in 1976. He also served one term as Lieutenant Governor under James A. Rhodes. Voinovich was elected mayor of the city of Cleveland in 1979 and served for ten years, restructuring the city's finances, promoting neighborhood revitalization, and supporting development of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, among other achievements. The National Civic League awarded the city of Cleveland the "All American City Award" three times during Voinovich's tenure. He was elected Governor of Ohio in 1990. From 1999-2011, he represented Ohio in the United States Senate. The collection consists of calendars, correspondence, itineraries, lists, magazines, memoranda, newspaper clippings, notes, press releases, reports, schedules, and speeches.

 Abstract:  The White Motor Company was an automobile, truck, and bus manufacturer in Cleveland, Ohio, from 1900-1980. The company was founded and developed by Rollin, Walter, and Windsor White, sons of sewing machine manufacturer Thomas H. White. The collection consists of advertisements, agreements, ballots, bylaws, catalogs, conference materials, constitutions, correspondence, data books, decals, deeds, engineering and design drawings, film cartridges, financial documents, handbooks, histories, identification cards, invitations, legal documents, manuals, maps, memoranda, minutes, newsletters, parts lists, patents, photographs, press releases, price lists, programs, reports, sales brochures, scrapbooks, slide rulers, specifications, tally sheets, transcripts, truck change orders, and a uniform patch.

 Abstract:  The Cleveland Tractor Company (Cletrac, Inc.), was a manufacturer of tractors for military and civilian use in Cleveland, Ohio. It was organized by Rollin H. White (1872-1962) as the Cleveland Motor Plow Company in 1916. The company was sold to the Oliver Corporation in 1944 and renamed Cletrac, Inc. in 1959. The collection consists of a contract, correspondence, instruction books, photographs, and a price list.

 Abstract:  Dudley S. Blossom, III ("Bun" Blossom) is the grandson of Dudley S. Blossom (1879-1938) and Elizabeth Bingham Blossom (1881-1970). He is a prominent businessman and philanthropist in Cleveland, Ohio. During the 1980s, he was led efforts for the economic revitalization of the Hough neighborhood by leveraging the activities and support of the Institute of Man and Science, the William Bingham Foundation, Glenco Enterprises, the North Coast Village Steering Committee, local churches, and Leland Schubert (1907-1998). The collection consists of correspondence, memoranda, minutes, newsletters, newspaper and magazine clippings, notes, proposals, and reports.

 Abstract:  John Meek (d. 1984) was a midget car racing enthusiast from Warren, Ohio. He retired to Key West, Florida, in the mid-1960s and became known as "The Iguana Man of Key West" for his passion for iguanas. The collection consists of approximately 300 black and white and color photographs of midget car races and drivers, primarily in Ohio and Pennsylvania, in the late 1930s through the early 1950s. The collection also includes photographs of antique racing car shows in the 1970s and race and pit passes from the 1940s.

 Abstract:  Radio station WHK-AM in Cleveland, Ohio, is one of the oldest radio stations in the United States, having received its commercial broadcasting license in 1922. The station received one of the first FM broadcasting licenses in the United States in 1946, and this station became WMMS in 1968. Ownership and broadcasting formats of these stations has changed multiple times throughout their existence, and in 1996 WHK was sold to Salem Communications and WMMS was sold to Nationwide Communications. In 1997 WHK and WHK-FM adopted a Christian format and eliminated all local programming. The collection consists of agreements, contracts, correspondence, forms, and reports.

 Abstract:  The Hupp Corporation began as an automobile manufacturer in Detroit, Michigan, and was revitalized as an appliance and heating system manufacturer. In 1928 the Hupp Motor Car Corporation purchased the Chandler-Cleveland Motors Corporation of Cleveland, Ohio, in order to expand its manufacturing facilities for a low price version of the Hupmobile. The collection consists of one general ledger for 1920.

 Abstract:  Lana Moresky is a women's rights activist and officer of the National Organization for Women (NOW). In 1972, Moresky joined the Cleveland, Ohio, NOW. By 1973 she was a member of the executive board and a state delegate, and, in 1974, Moresky became state NOW coordinator. In 1976 she was elected to a seat on the NOW national board. Moresky remained involved in NOW, particularly at the local level, throughout the 1980s, even as her political and women's rights activities increased and diversified. Her involvement included: Ohio Attorney General's Task Force on Sexism in Education, Cuyahoga County Democratic Executive Committee, Twenty-Second District Caucus chairperson, Democratic National Convention delegate, and Cleveland board member of Americans for Democratic Action. The collection consists of agendas, agreements, brochures, bylaws, correspondence, flyers, lists, magazine articles, memoranda, minutes, newspaper articles, newsletters, notes, press releases, programs, questionnaires, reports, resolutions, resumes, rosters, schedules/day planners, and speeches. He was named advertising director for the 1929 National Air Races; he then directed the advertising and promotional campaigns for the National Aeronautical Exposition of 1929; the National Air Races of 1929, 1931, 1932, 1934 and 1935 (which were all held in Cleveland), and the Great Lakes Exposition of 1936-1937 that was also held in Cleveland, Ohio.  Abstract:  The Peerless Motor Car Company was founded as the Peerless Wringer and Manufacturing Company. in 1889 on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio. The company produced washing machine wringers into the late 1890's until it began bicycle production. In 1903, The Peerless Manufacturing Company. was renamed The Peerless Motor Car Company to reflect its new focus on automobile parts and construction. The company specialized in luxury car manufacturing and thrived for two decades. Peerless also profited from truck manufacture and sales, particularly during World War I. New marketing strategies, however, could not offset the economic decline of the Great Depression; the company dissolved in 1931 and its last president arranged to have the Carling Brewing Company use the factory to produce beer. The collection consists of appraisals, catalogs, correspondence, memoranda, and minutes.

 Abstract:  JoAnn Lowe (b. 1941) is an artist based in Pepper Pike, Ohio, who initially served as the courtroom sketch artist for the Cleveland Jewish News during the five-week trial of Ivan (John) Demjanjuk, a former Cleveland resident arrested for his alleged involvement in the German extermination camps of World War II, held in Cleveland in 1981. Lowe then returned to volunteer as a sketch artist for Demjanjuk's second denaturalization trial in Cleveland in 2001. The collection consists of articles, correspondence, newspaper clippings, notes, a script, and Lowe's courtroom sketches from the 1981 Demjanjuk trial.

 Abstract:  Herbert S. Caron (b. 1924) is a psychologist based in Cleveland, Ohio, and has been instrumental in the movement for the immigration of Soviet Jewry to Israel and the United States. He took an active interest in the trials of Ivan (John) Demjanjuk (1920-2012), a former Cleveland resident arrested for his alleged involvement in the German extermination camps of World War II, and collected materials pertinent to the trials for his personal research. The collection consists of correspondence, fact sheet on the case, newspaper clippings, notes on court proceedings, and a summary of the Israeli court decision.

 Abstract:  Samuel Goldhamer (1884-1982), was the executive director of the Jewish Community Federation (JCF) of Cleveland, Ohio, from 1907-1948. He initiated a community-wide drive to expedite fund raising, a concept which became common throughout the United States. A resident of Shaker Heights, he published a book in 1963, titled Why Doncha Write a Book? A Half-Century of Experience in Jewish Communal Life. The collection consists of articles, correspondence, newspaper clippings, mailing lists, photographs, programs, testimonials, scrapbooks, and book manuscripts pertaining to Goldhamer's life and involvement with the JCF.
