The grand lodge of the Daughters of Scotland was founded in 1899, and the Blue Bell Lodge #1 was established the following year. This mutual aid organization was led by women with a mission to aid needy Scottish immigrants in the Greater Cleveland area. The lodge provided sick and death benefits to members through the collection of dues and fundraising through social and cultural events. The grand lodge of the Daughters of Scotland dissolved in the early 1970s, and the Blue Bell Lodge #1 followed suit in 1975. However, three social groups within the Blue Bell Lodge #1 continued to meet after the dissolution. In 1925, Ajax moved to Euclid, Ohio. The company was family-owned and operated until 1987 when it was sold to the Crawford Group. In 1996, Ajax was again sold, this time to Park-Ohio Industries. After serving in the United States Army Air Force during World War II, Palermo attended the Case Institute of Technology, graduating in 1949 with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked for the Picker X-Ray Corporation, developing x-ray and CAT scan systems. Palermo had an avid interest in local history, and he founded the South Euclid Historical Society and wrote the history of St. Gregory the Great Church (now known as Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish). In 1858 it changed to St. Paul's Evangelical Church. The church was located at the intersection of Scovill Avenue and Greenwood Street (East 28th Street). With the merger of the German Evangelical and German Reformed denominations the church became St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church. Since the 1961 merger with the Congregational Christian Church the denomination has been known as St. Paul's United Church of Christ. The collection consists of a bound record book that includes the church constitution, list of officers, membership records, communion records, baptism records, confirmation records, and marriage records, death records.
