 Abstract:  The Cleveland Hiking Club was founded in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1919 to encourage and promote outdoor recreation for people living in northeast Ohio. The collection consists of anniversary files, audit reports, board minutes, a cookbook, constitutions, directories, event programs, financial records, hiking schedules, mileage lists, newspaper articles, newsletters, organizational history files, photographs and photo albums, and slides. The collection contains approximately 1,200 black and white photographs, 375 color photographs, and 178 slides.

 Abstract:  The Christ Child Society of Cleveland was organized in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1916 as the fifth chapter created within the National Christ Child Society movement founded by Mary Virginia Merrick (1866-1955) in Washington, D. C. in 1887. The Cleveland chapter was founded by Mabel Higgins Mattingly (1885-1935), a professor at the Western Reserve University School of Applied Social Science and a friend of Mary Merrick. The group is a volunteer organization of Roman Catholic women who raise funds to serve the needs of children in need regardless of race or creed. The collection consists of biographical sketches, brochures, cassettes, CDs, cookbooks, correspondence, DVDs, event files, financial statements, histories, informational tax returns, job descriptions, minutes, newsletters, newspaper clippings, photographs, posters, programs, reports, rosters, and scrapbooks.

 Abstract:  Anthony Petruzzi is a gay activist, genealogist, and librarian from Euclid, Ohio. From 1987 to 1989, Petruzzi was a member, co-chairperson, and president of HUGS-EAST, a social and educational gay and lesbian organization in Lake County, Ohio. From 1988 to 1989, Petruzzi worked to open the organization's Mentor Center Tri-County Gay/Lesbian Drop-In Center at the East Shore Unitarian Universalist Church to serve as a space for social, educational, and emotional support sessions for the gay and lesbian community. Petruzzi was also a member of the Lake County Health District's AIDS Task Force and Health Issues Task Force in the late 1980s. The collection consists of agendas, bylaws, correspondence, directories, essays, invitations, lease agreements, mission statements, newsletters, newspaper clippings, proposals, publications, questionnaires, and schedules.

 Abstract:  Gay Games 9 was the ninth iteration of the Gay Games, an international gathering for athletic competition hosted by and for people in the LGBTQ+ community. Launched in 1982 by Dr. Tom Waddell, the Gay Games are an international sporting event that occur every four years. The Gay Games represent a safe arena for all athletes, regardless of sexual orientation, religion, race, gender, nationality, or ability. The Games were held in Cleveland and Akron, Ohio, from August 9 - 16, 2014. This collection consists of advertisements, agendas, articles, budgets, cards, certificates, correspondence, directories, a DVD, ephemera, flash drives, a grant application, guides, flyers, handbooks, a license agreement, magazines, manuals, maps, a memorandum, newspaper clippings, programs, promotional materials, a proposal, and publications.

 Abstract:  The Feiss Family Papers includes correspondence between four generations of the Feiss family between 1896 and 1952. Julius Feiss (1848-1934), the family patriarch, was a Jewish immigrant from Bavaria, Germany, and a co-founder of Joseph and Feiss, a Cleveland-based menswear manufacturer dating back to 1845. This collection consists of booklets, correspondence, a flyer, manuscripts, newspaper clippings, notebooks, photographs, postcards, and a passport.

3047Title:  B. A. T. (Beta Alpha Tau) Records

 Abstract:  B.A.T. was a social club started in 1929 at Cleveland Heights High School. It adopted the Greek letters, Beta Alpha Tau, to describe itself in its constitution. B.A.T. was initially created as a club specifically for Jewish male students and remained that way for about thirty years, when it diversified its membership. B.A.T. stayed in existence until 1997, surpassing the longevity of other area high school clubs. In 2006, the club celebrated what the group called its 77th anniversary with a reunion, followed by its 90th in 2019. Some of the local prominent members were Jules and Mike Belkin, Albert Ratner, Robert Goldberg, Vic Gelb, and Dr. Lester Persky.
