Kelley while residing on Kelley's Island, concerning local events and the Civil War; diary kept by Hermon A. Kelley while attending school on the island; criminal-docket book of Addison Kelley, justice of the peace; and statements on the condition of Kelley's Island Wine Company. Other persons represented include Datus, Hannah and Sara Kelley.

The collection consists of correspondence, student essays, notes, receipts, articles, clippings, biographical material, and other papers concerning Hinsdale's student days, his positions at Hiram College, the Cleveland Public Schools, and the University of Michigan, his association with James A. Garfield, and his writing of The Works of James Abram Garfield (1882-83), containing information on Garfield's early life and the Republican convention of 1880. Includes letters of condolence to Mrs. Hinsdale on her husband's death.

 Abstract:  David Abbot (1765-1822) was a pioneer and legislator in the Western Reserve. He was the first settler of Willoughby, Ohio, sheriff of Trumbull County, land agent for Aaron Olmstead of the Connecticut Land Company, a delegate to the Ohio Constitutional Convention, an Ohio legislator, and Clerk of Courts and Treasurer of Huron County. His son, Benjamin Abbot, was a trustee of the First Presbyterian Society of Milan, Ohio (inc. 1828). His grandson, David, is also reflected in the collection. The collection consists of biographical information, correspondence, legal opinions, legal documents and miscellaneous non-correspondence of the Abbot family; and material on the First Presbyterian Society of Milan, Ohio and the Merrimac Christian Conference of New Hampshire, the preamble and constitution of the Christian Meeting House of Bradford, New Hampshire, and miscellaneous non-correspondence.

 Abstract:  Alexander Nelson was a Methodist minister who taught at Norwalk Seminary, Worthington Female Seminary, and Baldwin Institute, in Ohio, between 1838 and 1850. He settled in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1837, but soon moved to Ohio. The collection consists of papers relating to Nelson's teaching assignments; copies of sermons and lectures on subjects such as Benedict Arnold, Western antiquities, Methodism, and the Sabbath; an address on the Bible delivered before the American Bible Society; and an autobiographical sketch.
