 Abstract:  The Vallandigham family descended from Michael Van Landegham who emigrated from French Flanders to Virginia. Clement Vallandigham married Rebecca Laird in 1807 and moved to New Lisbon, Ohio. The Vallandigham and Laird families had members in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Most prominent among them was Clement Laird Vallandigham, a lawyer, Democratic politician, congressman from Ohio, and spokesman of Northerners opposing the Civil War, and John Laird, a lawyer and Ohio senator. The collection consists of correspondence, speeches, writings, financial documents, legal documents, and miscellany of members of the Laird, Vallandigham and Robertson families, including Clement, Clement L., Elizabeth, George, James L., Mary E., and Rebecca Vallandigham, and John Laird.

 Abstract:  The Johnson and Hemrickhouse families were two pioneering families of Coshocton, Ohio. The Johnson brothers (John, Joseph and William) were Irish immigrants who settled in Coshocton in 1820. They married three daughters of Peter Hemrickhouse (who settled in Coshocton in 1832), while their sister married Hemrickhouse's eldest son. The collection consists of correspondence; land deeds and agreements; field notes, surveys of land in Coshocton County; financial documents such as invoices and receipts; and law office papers relating to Thomas Hemrickhouse, William and James Johnson, and other members of their families.

 Abstract:  Peter Henry Kaiser (1840-1929) was a lawyer, of Cleveland, Ohio. He served as historian of the 150th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The collection consists of correspondence, notebooks, and other papers, containing data relating to the 150th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, which were gathered by Kaiser as historian of the regiment; "A Half-century in Cleveland" (1919), which includes Kaiser's observations on topics such as housing, population, railways, industry, and the Cleveland Bar; and "History and evaluation of soldiers' relief in Ohio."

 Abstract:  George Perry was a soldier in the War with Mexico. His father, David I. Perry, was a minister who resided in Bloomington, Illinois. The collection consists primarily of letters (June-October, 1846) to Rev. David I. Perry from his son, George, a soldier who was stationed for the most part at Camp Rio Grande and at Camargo, Mexico in 1846. Includes a letter (1836) from the Presbyterian congregation of Big Flatt calling Rev. Perry to be their pastor.
