 Abstract:  The Woman's Missionary Society was a woman's group of the First Congregational Church of Brooklyn Village, Ohio (annexed to Cleveland in 1890). The object of the society was to raise money for missionary purposes and to cultivate the missionary spirit among its members. Money collected was sent to the Woman's Board of Missions for the purposes of their organization. The society met monthly and was particularly involved in assisting foreign missionary activities. The collection consists of a constitution, names of members, minutes of monthly meetings (1875-1883), including the treasurer's annual reports, and a letter (1893) from one-time secretary, Mary Russell Turner.

 Abstract:  The 20th Division, 1st Brigade, 1st Regiment, and 4th Division, 2nd Brigade, 1st Regiment were formed from the militias of Portage and Trumbull counties (Ohio) in 1837 according to an act passed by the Ohio General Assembly to organize and discipline the Ohio Militia. The militia in Portage County, headquartered in Ravenna, was formerly the 4th Division, 2nd Brigade, 1st Regiment of Ohio militia, made up of 10 companies and two sections of light infantry. The records of the 4th Division were kept by Col. Lucius V. Bierce, and the records of the 20th Division were kept by Joel B. Burnett and Perry H. Babcock. In 1838, companies of the 20th Division split off to make up the 4th Regiment of Ohio Militia. The collection consists of rank rolls, company officer elections, regimental orders, records of payments and fines assessed, and judicial and other records of the 20th Division, 1st Brigade, 1st Regiment of Ohio Militia, together with similar records of its predecessor, the 4th Division, 2nd Brigade, 1st Regiment. The records of the 4th Division are dated 1833-1837 and the records of the 20th Division are dated 1837-1843.

 Abstract:  B. G. Beynon was a lieutenant in the Royal Marines who served on board H.M.S. Menelaus during the War of 1812. Under the command of Sir Peter Parker, the Menelaus participated in the British expedition in Chesapeake Bay and up the Potomac and Patuxent rivers. Beynon and the Marines he commanded landed in Baltimore, where they had several encounters with enemy forces. The collection consists of a detailed day-by-day account of Beynon's experiences in the Chesapeake Bay area during the War of 1812.

 Abstract:  Yearly conference composed initially of the Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Crawford, Washington, and Erie quarterly meetings of Free Will Baptists, with delegates proportional to membership in the quarterly meetings. The conference met "to adjust such subjects as presented by the quarterly meetings, and to assist with difficulties and endeavor by all possible means to maintain Gospel order, discipline & holiness in its members." It was also responsible for reporting or sending delegates to the general conference of Free Will Baptists. The Free Will Baptist church had its beginnings in 1780 in New Durham, New Hampshire, where Benjamin Randall preached an Arminian form of Calvinism. The collection consists of minutes (1880-1917) of meetings of this yearly conference, beginning with the 47th session, with a copy of the bylaws and constitution as adopted in 1842. The minutes include reports from the various quarterly meetings, together with resolutions pertaining particularly to missionary work. Also included are lists of delegates and elected officers, and the 1908 proceedings discussing union with the Regular Baptists for cooperation in missionary and denominational work.
